Stephen Von Worley
http://www.datapointed.net/visualizations/math/factorization/animated-diagrams/
When Data Pointed’s Stephen Von Worley stumbled upon a program that creates diagrams of numbers’ prime factors on Brent Yorgey’s The Math Less Traveled, he decided to take the diagrams and make them move. Upon first sight of the brilliant factors, Von Worley writes, “I knew that I should take his lovely little dots and make them dance.”

Mathematical Mindsets
New Online Course Now Open!
I am recommending that everyone interested in the latest proven techniques in learning mathematics completes this free online course of 6 lessons from Stanford University that takes 2 to 3 hours. It is about mathematical thinking and year 6/7 students should not find any of the content difficult. The course is designed for children, parents and teachers and I think everyone would benefit greatly from the experience. You get a certificate from Stanford U at the end.
The main aim for students should be to learn how to learn.

How to Learn Math is a free class for learners of all levels of mathematics. There are 6 sessions, the first three are approximately 10 minutes long and the last three approximately 20 mins long. It combines really important information on the brain and learning with new evidence on the best ways to approach and learn math effectively. Many people have had negative experiences with math, and end up disliking math or failing. This class will give learners of math the information they need to become powerful math learners, it will correct any misconceptions they have about what math is, and it will teach them about their own potential to succeed and the strategies needed to approach math effectively. If you have had past negative experiences with math this will help change your relationship to one that is positive and powerful.
The course will feature Professor Jo Boaler as well as videos of math in action – in dance, juggling, snowflakes, soccer and many other applications. It is designed with a pedagogy of active engagement.
How To Learn Math for Students

Key Performance Indicators
How do you know what your work is worth?
School is 9am until 3pm 5 days per week 5x5 class hours per week = 25 hours.
4 10 week terms approximates to 1,000 hours per year.
Your pay is knowledge and skills, have you been paid?
Record what you do and examine the results.
Look at your text book. Date your work, record your work rate, how long do you take to complete most exercises when working well.
Know your stats and work on improving them.
What would be the result of doing double the work in half the time.
